Today, the Rice County Historical Society holds itself to the same mission that guided its foundation in 1926—“discovery, preservation and dissemination of the knowledge of Rice County and the State of Minnesota.”

Historical displays, genealogical research centers and exhibits are housed on site at the historical society for visitors to transport themselves back to the ingenious days of pioneering, manufacturing and artistry.

A complete connection to the past

History is not confined to the Rice County Historical Society or within the walls of their one-room schoolhouses or log cabins; it’s all around visitors—in the water, the bluffs and the stories of Rice County’s natural history. Local events, like the Rice County Free Fair, represent the continuous strong ties that individuals have to the Rice County community.

Experience a complete connection to the past. Our educational resources and outreach are sure to share the diverse history of Rice County.
