July 2017—Jazz Jam on the Patio returns to the Steele County Historical Society on Sunday, July 30, 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the History Center. The live jazz jam session will include a variety of professional and amateur musicians. Local musicians and vocalists of all abilities are invited to join in the jam.
There will be a group of four musicians performing. Each of whom bring a wealth of experience and talent to the event. Performing on the trombone is Ken Bloom. Ken is a long time jazz performer from St. Charles, MN and currently plays with Gate City Jazz Band Winona. On the keyboards is Eric Heukeshoven. Eric is a St. Mary’s University music professor, a member of numerous jazz bands small and large, and the player of the Winona Steam Calliope. Max Heukeshoven, Eric’s son is an accomplished musician in his own right, will be on the bass. On the trumpet is Tim Klinkner from Owatonna. Tim has played with the Owatonna Jazz Band for 20 years and with the Gate City Jazz Band for 15 years.
Anyone who would like to join us for a song, a set or the whole jam is welcome to do just that. That’s what makes it a jam session. Regardless of your instrument, brass, woodwind, bongos, harmonica, kazoo or jug, stop by and play along or bring your voice and sing along!
This is sure to be a fun afternoon filled with great music!
